Message the list of 'what ifs' is pretty short:

-Couldn't swerve or even brake, he didn't run in front of me, he ran out into me, he connected with my fender and up and over so fast, I was on the brake as he was behind me. He was running full tilt through stopped traffic, mostly larger pickup trucks. No chance for avoidance as I couldn't see him and he couldn't see me.

-Nobody on the sidewalk as this is a six-lane freeway (with &@#$! traffic lights at major intersections, our city's traffic planning sucks). Also, as above, I had no warning until he was rolling over me and it was over so fast I literally rolled to a stop, didn't even cut the wheel it happened so fast.

-All the witnesses agree there was nothing I could have done. I was decellerating in a dedicated RH turn lane. Kid literally appeared on my fender and rolled over. Done.

As for the nasty 'what if's':

-If I was driving my Frontier, he would have smacked off my fender... hard. Probably wouldn't have made it, as this is coming off freeway speed.

-If the guy exiting behind me was closer, he would have smacked him as he was stunned in the middle of the road after rolling over me. He was far enough behind to stop and was the first to get the kid off the road.

-If the kid broke the windshield with his head, he'd be with me in the cabin, again, not pretty.

Currently, the cops don't have my report ready (which they assured me would be ready this morning). Given their response time and the fact they missed the EMT's, fire trucks and the kid being carted off, I'm not surprised.

I don't have all my paperwork yet, but my insurance has already let me know that they won't cover the windshield. Nice of them.

Probably going to be out of pocket for most of this one.

Oh well, my IPP shortblock break in is about halfway done.

Regards,

My Zs are hybrid vehicles, they run on gasoline and money

I'm off to wax mine and go for a drive now.
